How BoatBuddieNet Works

Install the BoatBuddieNet Modem Router

Get your installer to mount and connect the Modem Router onboard your vessel then connect the 2x Cellular Antennas and 2x WiFi antennas to the top of the unit or in an optimal place on your boat.

Choose a subscription plan then insert the SIM Card

*Telstra is the only reliable option for marine internet access in Australia. Select the plan that best suits your vessel usage by emailing us directly then install the SIM Card into the unit.

In a lot of cases, if you have good antenna placement and are operating in and around a coastal port area you will have much faster access to the internet than a typical home ADSL or NBN connection.

*The BoatBuddieNet modem router can operate on the 700Mhz frequency and since this is the lowest frequency currently available in the cellular network its signal over water is the greatest and Telstra have made a point of provisioning this band on coastal towers around the country to assist with getting coverage further out to sea. The modem router works on the 4Gx/4G/3G/2G bands and can switch between them. Telstra have excellent coverage around Australia in at least one of these bands.
